Apple has unveiled it’s the iPhone 8 and iPhone X smartphones on Tuesdays. While the iPhone 8 is an important update, the iPhone X is a huge leap forward. The devices share a number of similarities and features, such as the A11 Bionic CPU and wireless charge, but the iPhone X sport a series of changes that make it stand out. Use the right arrow to know four of the biggest reasons to choose the iPhone X on the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus.
1. Edge-to-Edge OLED
Possibly the biggest feature that the iPhone X introduces is its screen. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both retain a traditionally screen size, with the standard moldings at the top and bottom. The iPhone X, on the other hand, is “all screen” with a large 5.8-inch display area. That’s a bigger screen than the iPhone 8 Plus in a small form factor.
Not only is it bigger, but it’s also better. Uses Apple Super Retina HD and display technology packs in the highest pixel density of any iPhone. Simply, it is an OLED screen, which dispenses with the display of the usual medium of weaknesses in terms of brightness and color accuracy. It is the best of both worlds, as Apple puts it, is the best of both the LCD and the OLED of worlds.
2. TrueDepth Cameras
Apple routinely updates new flag-bearers with better cameras, and this year is no different. But while the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus both take incremental camera updates, the iPhone X gets a greater boost in the camera capacity and quality-especially with the obverse of selfie camera.
On the one hand, the iPhone X has a double, which faced the camera module with TrueDepth technology. Not only have advanced AR capabilities, but also provide support to portrait mode and the new Portrait Lighting-a first for Apple selfie cameras.
3. Face ID Security
Touch ID isn’t dead yet. Both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will retain a Home button and Apple’s fingerprint-based authentication system. The iPhone X, on the other hand, does not have a Home button or Touch ID and instead will be based on Face ID, Apple the new and advanced facial recognition system.
It relies on a neuronal engine and infrared sensors, so it works in the dark, and will adapt to a user’s face over time (if you change the hairstyles or grow a beard, for example). It’s faster and safer, too. Apple says it touches the ID has about 1 in 50,000 chance of false authentication. With ID face, stat drops to 1 in 1 million. And not be easily supplanted by a picture of you.
4. Better Battery Life
The battery on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will have “on it” as the current generation of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus devices, according to the Apple website. Sure, those devices are not slouches when it comes to battery life, but the iPhone X will have them beat.
Apple announced that the battery on the iPhone X will last approximately two hours longer than the iPhone 7. That’s probably because of OLED is better energy efficiency and possibly due to a new form of L battery design. Either way, this means you’ll be able to use your iPhone X for longer.
