Analyst Explains How Hard It’ll Be to Buy an iPhone X This Year

iphone x shipments

The iPhone X will be available for pre-order on October 27, and the OLED Premium flagship launch on November 3. But it could be hard to get your hands on one until next year, according to a famous analyst.

Apple’s top-tier handset will be in extremely high demand after it launches. But due to the relatively low, profitability rates this year and various problems in production and supply chains, the iPhone X shipments might not catch up with the demand until the first quarter of 2018, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities wrote in A research note that was distributed to customers on Friday.

“We believe the complete design and facial recognition features will be the replacement of the unit the demand for the iPhone X”, Kuo wrote. “However, due to supply-side constraints, we hope that the market demand will not be fully satisfied before 1H18.” We must review our forecasts for 2017F iPhone x shipments of 45-50 million to about 40 million units, but we, therefore, review our 2018 iPhone x shipment estimate to 80-90 million units. ”

Analysts already predicted that the iPhone X would create a “super-cycle Update” of Apple, thanks to its new design and revolutionary features. But due to a “multitude of production issues” early in the development earpiece, the flagship premium is expected to cope with “extended supply shortfall and delays in shipments,” according to the Wall Street Journal report Since the beginning of this month.

In fact, Kuo also predicted that the iPhone X could face a “serious supply shortage” after its official release. Earlier this week, the analyst estimates that the handset’s output was less than 10,000 units per day. That the rate of performance is expected to increase as Apple increases mass production, but they follow in very short the offer “for a while”, Kuo added.

Before Tuesday, Kuo also believed that a gold iPhone X would only be available in “extremely low volume”-and may not start along with other color options. In fact, Apple says that the iPhone X would only be available in silver and gray space. According to Kuo’s note today, the lack of a gold color earlier echoes of production is concerned.

In addition to the supply issues, Kuo said Apple will probably deliberately postponed the iPhone X pre-order and shipping dates. Specifically, the company may not want to merge the sales of its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 more devices. Pre-order for mobile phones started at midnight PST today, and it is anticipated that orders will start sending to customers next Friday, Sept. 22.

But what does all this mean for consumers? In short, Apple is currently not able to produce enough of the devices fast enough to meet the high demand driven by its features. In other words, it’s not going to be easy to buy an iPhone X during this year’s busy Christmas shopping season.
